
Anthony David Gonzalez was conceived in Torrance on February 27 of 1976. His family was from Southern California and attended Huntington Beach High School where He was a leading player on both the football and basketball teams. Gonzalez continued to be a star in both sports at the University of California, Berkeley. He led the football team into the 1996 Aloha Bowl, where he tied a school bowl record with nine receptions. After a few months, Gonzalez played with the basketball team to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA basketball tournament. He then left school for the 1997 NFL Draft. Gonzalez was chosen as the 13th overall choice by the Kansas City Chiefs. Gonzalez was a member of the Chiefs from 1997 to 2008. Gonzalez was transferred to the Atlanta Falcons. After his second year in the NFL the team never managed to catch less than 59 passes in the course of a season.
